Manon Oligny
Artistic director, choreographer
Since 1992 the choreographer Manon Oligny is engaged in an artistic process exposing shamelessly men and women bodies, which she guides purposely towards the unveiling of their intimacy. With a moving and sometimes sarcastic touch she depicts the unsettling and the chaos of the soul. Its body language is excessive, rough and carnal. Her creative approach does not cease to criticize her medium, dancing, and to question its associated codes. Since three years, she has established many artistic collaborations with people coming from diverse horizons: cinema, video, literature and photography, here and abroad. She is not interested in concepts but in the dramatization of ideas. The intensity and the incarnation of movements must first emerge because the body's states are rarely stable—everything is shaking, is changing, fluid…
As an invited choreographer, she collaborates with many producers: Wajdi Mouawad, Claude Poissant, Jean Salvy, Pierre Bernard, Serge Denoncourt et Denis Bernard. In June 2001 Manon Oligny was invited to participate to a choreographic residence in Tunis (Tunisia) within the context of Danse à Lille. In 2002 she the award winner of the MAP program within the framework of the Pépinières européennes at the Contemporary Art Center Lugar Comum of Lisbonne.
